This is a deal where all parties obviously needed a change. Kudos to Shanny for making the deal that needed made to allow the Leafs to rebuild from the bottom up. They should have bit that bullet long long ago. Phil obviously needed a change of scenery and is thriving. He was willing to play on what essentially a third line, and that's been a huge part of the Pens success. If he keeps this up, he's going to achieve folk hero status in da Burgh.

Unfortunately I agree.

I get they needed to rebuild, and it helped out the Mathews cause. They also shed salary and were able to have $6.8 million (or whatever the retention was) in cap space going ahead ....but as far as pure goal scorer and great playmaker goes it was poop return.

If they didn't trade him they would of gotten 3rd last and dropped To 5th like the Nucks and Kessel would of gotten another 60 points losing more value.
